film write-up #14

BLUE VELVET

David Lynch is a mastermind, and this is one of my favorite things he's made. Dennis Hopper is a MADMAN. Isabella Rossilini is phenomenal as well.

...you should have already seen this movie from 1986, trust me.

film write-up #13

SLEEPAWAY CAMP

hands down one of my favorite horror films ever. It's also filmed up in Glens Falls, Argyle, Fort Edward, and Lake Luzurne New York... my parents have a summer home in Lake Luzurne, i've spent a lot of time up there, making the picture that much more epic for me.

A shy girl Angela goes to summer camp with her cousin Ricky, and learns about love, hate, and life. A killer is also on the loose, making things that much more intense for the "poor little girl"... The soundtrack is great, if you like synth-ridden 80's pop!

Sleepaway Camp is definitely one of the best endings to any horror film, watch it and see!

DOG SOLDIERS

written and directed by NEIL MARSHALL (THE DECENT, DOOMSDAY), and among those titles(he's made more, but i haven't seen them) this takes the cake.
if your into werewolf films, try this on for size.
its from 2002, there is no CGI, and the wolves in this movie look incredible!

a team of BRITISH soldiers are in SCOTLAND for a friendly training exercise. when they find the other groups camp, there is one survivor, and for good reason. they've stumbled across the stomping grounds of a group of werewolves, and their ammo consists of blanks. s i c k .

A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 4: THE DREAM MASTER

i think i like every FREDDY movie they have made.... yeah. i do.

this one, the first one, and THE NEW NIGHTMARE are my favorites. In this installment, you see three characters from the previous tale start the story off. they soon perish, leaving a fresh new brood of souls for Mr. Krueger.

see FREDDY fight a ninja, "suck face" with a schoolgirl, battle the DREAM MASTER herself!

FIRE IN THE SKY

ROBERT PATRICK (yes, the T1000) and his pack of tree cutting hillbillies are coming home from a day of work, and see a red glowing coming from the dark woods ahead.

this is one nutty alien movie, the abduction scenes haunted me when i was younger, and they haunt me today.

it is said to be based on actual events, never heard that one before. whether it happened or not? who knows. if it did happen, that must have been horrible.

Friday the 13TH: THE FINAL CHAPTER

a girl, her younger brother (COREY FELDMAN), and her mother are at their summer home in the woods by CRYSTAL LAKE. cue the lustful coeds who just are moving into the house next door for some summer fun. (CRISPIN GLOVER is one of them, SICK.)

this is not in fact the final chapter, but it is one of my favorites of all the series. definitely worth checking out if you can't choose what JASON movie you want to enjoy tonight.

CALVAIRE

...a Belgium horror film that i really, really liked. the story is awesomely weird. a singer stranded in the woods on the way to a gig, which i know sounds bad, but trust me on this, there are some very strange characters doing some very strange things in this film. the bar dance scene is reason alone to like it.

SAUNA

is a Finnish horror film set place in the 1500's, after the Russian/Swedish war, following a group from both sides set to plot out the new borders of the land.

as they progress, they find an uncharted town in a swamp, where the mysterious sauna can be found.

this movie is cool as hell, watch it.
